A story of Sarah Turner with vampires, wizards, werewolves and magic |
Chapter 7: Attack That night Sarah finally felt the true feeling of pain and what it meant. Their teacher was extremely rough with them, obviously not caring that Sarah and Damien were only twelve and still very fragile. He would hit them forcefully trying to teach them defence, and make them skid across the room, crying out in pain and anger. whenever they would try to attack Li, he would simply create a barrier and block each hit faster than the blink of the eye, and say ‘You must not use anger for fighting, because it taints your thoughts. You must always have a clear mind, and learn to fight with power and strength, and yet have complete control over your anger and know what it is you are doing.’ Sung Li, which was their teacher’s name, would never compliment them whenever they would do fairly well, but would be quick to throw a nasty comment and a quick swift tap on the head with his staff whenever they would mess up. His dark little eyes would narrow at Sarah whenever they would practise on some images that Li would create, watching as she would swiftly throw her punches and dodge the ghostly hands that would fly at her. Sarah didn’t yet quite understand what people saw in her, because whenever she would glance at Damien to see how he was doing with his practise hologram, he seemed so much faster and cunning than Sarah did. Of course, then her hologram threw Sarah down to the ground, taking the advantage of her interest in Damien, laughing in her face. This is how it went every night, even weekends, for weeks before finally Sarah and Damien could challenge each other because they were finally capable of not killing each other. Or making complete fools of themselves against each other, whichever was a more intriguing thought. Sarah had walked with Simon to the school that day, extremely nervous because she knew just how well Damien fought, and she would have to go against that. Moreover, the students were yet saw each other and their abilities, because Hillary had made it very clear on the second night that no one was to reveal it quite yet. She had said that because Troy and Ryley had decided to be show offs and show their skills that they had learned in the first night in front of the first years. However, instead of having a well fought battle against each other, Ryley ended up with a bloody gash above his right eye, and Troy had to get two fingers magically attached back to his hand. Therefore, as everyone soon saw, it was too dangerous to practise without their instructor’s right behind, shouting orders and complaints into their ears. Simon waved to Sarah as he trotted away to his Mage class, learning how to properly use his magic, and also how to control it whenever his anger would take over. Sarah stood at the door, and after a quiet moment, she lifted her eyes and gazed upon it anxiously. A fifth year shoved past, mumbling angrily about a mission that he had messed up on, and hoping that his teacher would not be too upset with him. She noticed that he had blood splashed all across his front, and that’s only when she also saw that his lips were sparkling of the dark red liquid. After everyone had left Sarah’s hallway, she finally sighed, and pushed open the door, entering the room and her destiny. She knew in her heart that she was about to be destroyed by Damien, but there was absolutely no way to pull out of it, because Sung Li would never accept that, and would commit her as a failure. She did not want Hillary to think that Sarah was weak, and ever since that fateful night where she had somehow called upon the magic within her necklace, everyone had been expecting Sarah to be a goddess at this. Even some of the older students were quite impressed that she was able to transform to her battle mode at only her first night, when they had to learn for weeks just how to control the power of the necklace. Sarah had no idea how that had happened, but she was never able to transform again, even though she had tried so hard to impress Hillary by doing so. Just imagine if Sarah was to be a better vampire than her own mother that would maybe put Sarah into her mother’s good graces. But then again, her mother might also become jealous and mean, but so far, her mother has just been quiet with Sarah, watching her at anytime possible, yet not complaining about Sarah going to learn magic. The room was indistinctly lit, and at first Sarah did not realize that Li had lit candles, and placed them accordingly in the room, as though there was a special meaning to them. It didn’t seem that Li or Damien was in the room, so Sarah cautiously moved towards the middle, something catching her eye and pulling her forward. She soon saw that the object that had caught her rapt attention was a mere golden coin that had strange designs on each side. On one side, it had a picture of a brilliant powerful looking dragon, and on the other side was a city from days long ago, a castle in the far distance. ‘I see you’ve noticed my precious coin of wisdom and strength.’ Li whispered, coming out of the darkness and towards Sarah. ‘Oh master Li, I had not noticed you when I entered.’ Sarah gasped. Li smiled, his slightly wrinkled face pulled into an intrigued smile, his eyes squinted so much that Sarah was sure that he wasn’t able to see anything. ‘Ah, once you have mastered all that I have taught you, young Sarah, you will be swift as the wind and quiet as a dragon’s wings.’ Li told her, his hands behind his back and his eyes upon the door. ‘Whoever defeats who tonight shall win that coin, and I recommend that you prepare yourself, because young Damien is on his way at this very moment, and he has been preparing since after you school was finished. He is very determined to win against you Sarah; he seems to think that you will be powerful even if you had not an ounce of training thrown upon you.’ ‘How do you know all this master Li?’ Sarah questioned, her mouth open in shock, but her heart pounding anxiously. ‘I know things that other should not, and sometimes, that is a gift, and other times, I am cursed for having it.’ he simply replied, his eyes still focused on the door. ‘I think that your friend Madison has such talent as well, if I am not mistaken?’ Sarah hesitated, but Li already seemed to know the answer to his question. ‘I am not usually allowed to tell of the future to anyone, but you must use Madison’s talent to your own advantage after this night, because she will be able to help you very well. But let us end this conversation, for Damien now comes this way, and it is none of his business to know these things.’ Sarah nodded, and turned to the door, barely hearing Damien as he tripped his way towards the door. when he pushed threw the door, Sarah inhaled sharply, expecting him to come in narrowed eyed and ready for anything. But instead, Damien came in gasping for air, his eyes barely able to stay open long enough to notice Li and Sarah running towards him. His hand slipped from the handle, causing Damien to collapse on the ground with a heavy sigh of anguish. Already blood was dripping slowly onto the wooden floor panelling from a deep wound in Damien’s arm, which Sarah quickly noticed was limp and mangled. ‘Sarah, stay here with Damien, while I go and fetch Hillary.’ He moved away and hurried out of the room. Sarah felt more frantic than ever, because of Damien’s condition. She soothingly brought her dress sleeve and wiped the blood that was covering Damien’s face from a cut above his right eye, hoping that while she was with him, nothing bad would happen to him. She wondered what happened to him, what sort of person would do this to another human being. She sighed heavily and slapped her head. It must have been a dark werewolf or a dark vampire who had done this to him, she was sure about it. after taking a careful glance at his scars, she saw that there were different varieties, like burns, teeth marks, scratches and bruises from possible punches across his bare arms. Across one particular burn, Sarah brought her finger across the red sizzled skin gently, feeling the heat that exfoliated from it. she peered at it while still feeling the marks with her finger, and suddenly noticed that it was not just a regular burn. Whatever had caused this left a mark to reveal themselves. She bit on her lip and moved in for a closer look, quickly noticing a black figure with a pair of black wings, and somehow she connected that mark to Vladmire. Suddenly Damien grabbed her hand, his nails, which in fact were as lengthy as Sarah’s, dug into her skin. Sarah cried out in astonishment and pain, trying to get Damien’s hand off of her almost frantically, amazed how he just awoke with no warning. ‘Sarah…’ Damien whispered. He was staring up at her, his large light chocolate eyes filled with fear and a hint of tears. ‘What is it Damien, please tell me, there is nothing here that can hurt you here.’ Sarah quickly replied, pulling her hand away from his burn. He tried to make a sound, but only a desperate gasp for air was produced. He swallowed some air, then tried once again. ‘He… Vladmire, he…’ he paused to wince at the pain of which all that this took. ‘He… wants… you… he… will… kill… no… matter… what…’ he dropped his head again to the floor to rest, knowing that he had at least gotten his message out to Sarah. Sarah remained silent, staring at Damien in complete anguish. She was the cause for Damien’s injuries, Vladmire knew that his little creatures were unable to get to Sarah, because she was always accompanied. However, he still had to make a point and show that he spoke seriously, so he attacked Damien. He obviously knew that Damien and Sarah were training together at the time, and before the whole class would rejoin, he had to make his point. Hillary, Serge, and Li came around the corner and froze when they saw Damien and Sarah. ‘Dear lord.’ Hillary gasped when she saw Damien lying on the ground surrounded by a pool of crimson blood. ‘What the bloody hell has happened to this boy?’ she asked herself aloud. ‘He was attacked by Vladmire's men, they did this hoping that he would get the message to me.’ Sarah explained sorrowfully, glancing down at Damien’s weak body. Hillary’s brow lifted with interest. ‘What is this message you speak of Sarah.’ ‘That Vladmire wants me dead at all costs, and he is using my friends to hurt me, thank god he did not get someone like my sister.’ She stated flatly and emotionlessly. Serge and Hillary looked upon each other darkly, and after a silent moment, Hillary nodded to Serge. He moved to Damien, and began to lift him from the floor as carefully as possible. ‘Oh my god, what the hell happened to Damien!’ Celina shrieked shrilly, throwing her hands to her mouth in shock. Sarah looked up and saw that the rest of her classmates had left their classrooms to come and see the commotion, but what they found was of course not pleasant. Madison and Sarah stared at each other silently, Madison’s mouth slightly open in question, but Sarah shook her head and looked away. She only looked away because behind Madison, Simon stood, his eyes curious and yet worried for Sarah. She did not want him to worry about her as much as he did, but she couldn’t help but turn and stare into his warm eyes that melt her heart and lifted her spirits. ‘Everyone!’ Hillary cried over all the excited anxious voices of Sarah’s classmates. They quickly fell silent at once and stared at her as though she were royalty. ‘Report to the first classroom in the main hallway, there you will get further instructions when Serge returns.’ As soon as she finished, Madison hurried to Sarah, her dress floating behind her for only a moment with Simon right next to her. Ryley walked with the rest of the class, but when Sarah’s looked upon him, he seemed as though he wanted to be with Sarah, Madison and Simon, but was of course too proud to ask, and to stubborn to stand Madison. ‘Why did they attack Damien?’ Madison asked, helping Sarah up onto her feet. Sarah hesitated, her eyes glaring down at her feet. ‘Sarah?’ ‘Do I need to tell you?’ Sarah said sullenly. ‘Yes! I am your best friend, we tell each other everything, and I wanted to know so that maybe I can help next time!’ ‘They attacked him because of me alright, they could not get to me, and so they attacked him because he knew that we were training together!’ Sarah shouted after a moment. She glared at Madison and Simon, but immediately regretted it seeing the look on their faces. ‘I’m sorry… but I don’t want people hurt just because Vladmire is some heart less monster who believes a prophecy that I will take that power from the runes into my hands and destroy it. that to me is pathetic, does he not realize that I am a twelve year old, and he has so much more power than I’ll ever have in my lifetime.’ ‘One day Sarah, you will be powerful, and he is worried about when that day will come.’ Madison explained, pulling Sarah into an embrace. ‘He thinks, why not destroy her now when she is weak and just beginning to learn what I’ve already learned so many years ago.’ ‘He is pathetic Sarah, he is frightened by you, and does that not lift your spirits?’ Simon teased, hoping that maybe she would feel better. She tried to hide the smile that formed onto her lips, but Simon caught it and grinned playfully. But his grin slowly faded away as he reached out and placed his hand on Sarah’s cheek, the two staring at each other longingly. Madison pulled away, noticing that Serge was approaching, his eyes darker than what they had ever seen before. ‘What are you three still doing here?’ he snapped suspiciously, eyeing out the three of them up and down as if they were hiding something. Not one of them replied, but that appeared to only make Serge nastier. ‘Get to the class immediately!’ ‘Yes sir.’ They all nearly whispered, nodding to Serge. He muttered something under his breath as he followed them, but it was too indistinct for Sarah to make out any of the words. Nevertheless, she knew it was something important, and she only wished that she could have heard. She almost dared herself to turn around and eye him out, to see what his eyes would reveal, but kept all her dark thoughts to herself. There was nothing to worry about, Serge was Hillary’s best student, and if she could trust him, then why couldn’t Sarah, Madison, Simon or Ryley? ‘Alright, since it seems that Vladmire's men have taken this to a more serious situation, Hillary has instructed that we begin to give you your missions.’ Excited whispers began to move around the class between all the students, especially Celina. Serge merely rolled his eyes in the front of the class and waited patiently for all the students to stop whispering to each other. ‘But Serge, do you think we have enough training to being our missions, I mean, we’ve only been training in our one specific areas for only three weeks, is it enough?’ Troy asked sharply, remembering the incident between him and Ryley. ‘Yes I do think that is good enough, for now. But you will all need more training, especially with magic, and so we’ve prepared a convenient way to teach you.’ He paused for a moment, looking at each of their faces. ‘We will separate you all into groups, and someday you will be with different people on missions, and sometimes you shall be learning magic and other abilities.’ Colby raised his hand, his other still crossed in front of his chest. Sarah realized she had barely knew anything about this boy, because he rarely spoke in class, and he always left the school before anyone. Serge himself seemed astonished; his dark eyes widened with an authentic curiosity as the class fell silent all turning to Colby in anticipation of his question. ‘What kind of missions would we be doing in particular, would we be able to find the crystal shards, or something smaller?’ Serge chuckled slightly, but Colby's cold grey eyes silenced Serge as they stared at him, his eyes not even blinking. ‘The crystal shards Colby, you are not yet prepared to handling with such things.’ Serge replied casually. ‘Why do you ask Colby, do you possibly think you are ready to be playing around with the crystals when Vladmire and his men are also searching for them?’ ‘It’s none of your business Serge as to why I would like to find some crystal shards.’ Colby snapped, lowering his head and staring at the desk, his fingers digging into his arms as he held them tight to his chest. ‘Anyway, when you all come tomorrow, we will be prepared to set you off on your missions, and just so you understand this, you will never be on a mission alone.’ His eyes quickly gave a dark and worried glance at Colby that Madison just caught before he looked away in the direction of Celina. ‘Just in case… something would ever happen to one of you, there will always be one other person with you.’ Serge suddenly sighed and grimaced, his hand grabbing his desk to keep his balance as he wavered on the spot. Sarah frowned and watched, but while she was doing that, Madison glared nastily at Colby. Before Sarah realized what was happening, Madison grabbed Sarah’s pen on the desk and threw it at Colby. Sarah gasped and watched as Colby shuddered and blinked in confusion, his eyes darting around to see who threw the pen at him. Sarah saw how his eyes were angry and distrustful, so she looked away almost guiltily along with Madison. Serge was breathing heavy, but he was no longer grimacing in pain and that was a relief to Sarah. ‘Serge, are you all right?’ Celina timidly asked. He merely nodded quietly. ‘Yes… but I’m not feeling the best right now.’ He paused to catch his breath again. ‘I give you all permission to leave and go home, rest before tomorrow, because this is where it really begins.’ Outside the air was oddly warm, the clouds thick and dark as they hide the moon from everyone’s sight. They all stood huddled just outside the building, eyeing out the darkness nervously, thinking about Damien’s attack earlier. The only person though, who had left a few minutes before with his hands crossed over one another and his head lowered, was of course Colby. ‘Troy, do you maybe think we should just go home?’ Angel asked pressed up against Sarah, her hand woven into Sarah’s worriedly. ‘I don’t know Angel.’ Troy replied, for once his voice not snappy or rude. He glanced at Stephanie and Celina. ‘Do you want to come with us so you aren’t alone, it would be better if all four of us walked to the village.’ ‘Of course!’ Celina cried. Stephanie also agreed by nodding her head, and soon after the four walked away into the eerie darkness. Sarah and Madison glanced at each other, then at Simon and Ryley who were talking quietly to each other. <Sarah, I somehow have a feeling you would like to maybe walk home with Simon alone, if you do, then just nod, and I’ll leave with Ryley.> Madison said, transmitting her thoughts to her head. In Madison’s class, she and Stephanie had learned how to speak to another person through their thoughts and many other psychic tricks. Sarah wondered whether Madison had simply guessed that she wanted to be with Simon, or if she had read her mind as she usually did, using her ability to her own advantage. Sarah frowned and bit on her lip looking at Simon from the corner of her eye. Sarah eventually nodded and smiled thankfully to Madison. Madison smiled back, her eyes an interesting colour as she looked at Simon. <It’s all right Sarah, I understand, but tomorrow I want to walk home with you. I’m sorry to say this, but I still don’t trust him much, no matter how nice he is to you.> Sarah once again nodded, but this time she bit on her lip and was unable to look at Madison’s eyes. ‘Ryley come on, you’re going to walk me home tonight.’ Madison announced. Ryley cocked his eyebrow at Madison and snorted, but soon was staggered when she grabbed his arm and began dragging him away without his permission. That left Sarah and Simon alone, and immediately Sarah began to get nervous as she always did, because she never knew how to react to the way Simon would touch or look at her. ‘So, should we leave as well, or do you want to stay around here for a while?’ Sarah asked, rubbing her arm until it turned red with irritation. ‘Actually Sarah, I had different plans for us.’ Simon replied shortly and hastily. Sarah frowned curiously. ‘I was wondering if you would like to come to my home in the woods.’ When Sarah didn’t say anything except Sarah at Simon, her cheeks a blood red, Simon nervously added ‘it is up to you. I just wanted to show you how I live, so you could get to know me better, in case you haven’t noticed, I rarely speak about myself.’ ‘Yes I noticed, and I never said anything but I always wondered about your secret life behind the school.’ ‘Is that a yes?’ Sarah hesitated and closed her eyes, letting the cool night wind blow at her face. What was she to do, go to a boy’s home with him, and be alone… she didn’t think that was right, but she was beginning to really trust Simon. Moreover, some of the things he said to her blew her away. If she were any other girl than Sarah Turner, (or Madison Thompson) she would have fallen head over heels for Simon already. She did have a silly crush on him, but was that any excuse for her to go home with him? She sighed heavily, her voice wavering as she opened her mouth. ‘Simon…’ The walk through the woods was completely soundless and gave Sarah a slight chill, but she enjoyed it none the less. Simon would breathe occasionally, taking in the pine scent that hovered around them, and Sarah even caught him sniffing the air with curiosity. He was possibly checking to see if they were safe and that nothing that would want to hurt them was nearby. Sarah saw how Simon was very light footed when he was in a forest, his senses perking and his eyes wide with a mischievous and childish glint of happiness. She was happy that she was with him, and not just because it was Simon, but because she had a strange feeling that even though Simon did not sense anyone, they were being followed. Hillary had not allowed them to keep their weapons out of school yet, but she had that as soon as they began their missions, they would be allowed from then on. That meant that the next night, Sarah would receive her bow and arrows and her sword while Simon had a sword as well, Madison had no weapons. The reason for that was because in the second year the would receive a new ability, and Madison did not have anything with weapons in both of her abilities. Sarah had the martial arts, and her second ability was being a warrior, Madison’s second was a mage, and that had to do with magic, not weapons or anything practical. Sarah knew that when she transformed, she had somehow received her bow and sword by magic, but since then Sarah had not transformed to her battle mode once. Hillary did not even understand how Sarah’s weapons came to her when she transformed, but she thought that it was quite remarkable that she was able to do that so early. Nevertheless, at the moment, Sarah wished that she knew how to transform without using her anger to do so, because she felt weak and powerless without any armour on or her weapons at her side. ‘It’s coming up.’ Simon stated excitedly. Before Sarah knew what was happening, Simon put Sarah on his back, and began running at full speed, the wind throwing Sarah’s necklace out of her dress and behind her head. His quick feet brought them to his cabin in only a matter of a few seconds, seconds that Sarah thought had been unnecessary. She felt slightly uneasy now, her head already beginning a pounding headache from the speed of the wind that blew into her face and the way that Simon had leaped over stubs in the ground. ‘Here it is… home, the only place that I can go without feeling like a hideous monster and just like a regular person.’ Simon let Sarah enter first, obviously not caring how small his home was, or how little furniture there was within it. Sarah quickly noticed that he did not have a refrigerator, or anything that a human would need, and remembered that Simon ate in his werewolf form off the animals in the forest. There was a small round table in the corner, but it was almost completely destroyed by a savage claw attack, one leg bitten off by a pair of sharp teeth. Simon had a wood stove against one wall with a pile of wood lined up neatly next to it, but a fire was not lit, so the room was damp and chilly. Simon seemed to read Sarah’s thoughts, and began to put some wood into the stove and lit it, a small fireball appearing in his palm. She noticed this and was surprised to know he was already using his magic so well when she knew that Celina could not even create a spark in her palm yet, or even a drop of water from her other. There was also a worn out red sofa that appeared he had taken it from a dump, but Sarah ignored that fact and went to sit on it. She sank in deeply, the motion shocking her instantly, her eyes widening with absolute surprise. Simon laughed and stood in front of her, showing off how tall he was compared to Sarah, who was nearly sitting on the floor. ‘What do you think?’ Simon asked smiling at Sarah hopefully. ‘I think that it’s nice, for a werewolf’s home I suppose. I mean, you have no parents to help and no money for furniture, but yes, I think it’s perfectly all right.’ Sarah lied, giving smile a false smile to reassure him. ‘Well thank you, you know you are the first person I’ve ever brought here?’ Simon told her with a crooked smile. ‘That’s how special you are to me.’ He added. Sarah blushed, her eyes softening sweetly as she looked up at Simon. She did not understand how Madison couldn’t trust Simon, by just looking into his eyes she saw that he was sincere. Simon suddenly closed his eyes as if he were in pain. His fists were clenched as well, and it seemed as if he were trembling. ‘Simon, are you all right?’ ‘Yes… I just… you… should…’ he took in a deep breath of air, and then swiftly sat next to Sarah, turning his head so he could stare into her light sapphire eyes. ‘Sarah, did anyone ever tell you how beautiful you are?’ Sarah recoiled slightly with surprise ‘What?’ ‘Yes Sarah, you are beautiful, I thought so the first time I saw you. But of course, you will never remember the first time we met, because… I’m sorry, I’m not supposed to speak of that time.’ Simon quickly recovered. ‘You think I’m beautiful?’ ‘Of course, just imagine when you are older, you will break so many boy’s hearts just by looking their way and knowing that they can’t have you because they wouldn’t be worthy enough. I know I’m not even worthy to be talking to you right now, but you’ve given me a chance when no one else has, and to me, that just gets to me right at the heart.’ Sarah couldn’t believe the things that Simon was saying to her, and if she wasn’t so god damned suspicious all the time, she would have kissed him right there. But instead, Sarah stood up and began pacing around the room nervously, wondering what to do. ‘I uh… I think that maybe I shouldn’t have come here Simon… I’m sorry.’ Sarah finally said her voice emotionless with confusion. Simon nodded, but looked away. ‘God damnit, why did I say those things to you so soon, now I’ve probably just ruined all my chances with you…’ he pulled at his hair angry at himself, then calmed down enough to stare at his golden necklace that lay on his collar bone. ‘I’m sorry Sarah, it’s because I’m a werewolf, isn’t it?’ ‘No god!’ Sarah replied hastily. ‘No, I just, I don’t hear these things very often, and I got confused… I thought that you didn’t like me that way, I thought I was being stupid in liking you, but it seems that it wasn’t a waste of my time.’ She paused. ‘But I do think maybe I should just go home, this is a little overwhelming for me.’ She admitted shyly, her cheeks a full red and her eyes a bright pink. Sarah felt her whole face aflame, and tried to hide it underneath her black bangs which she had just dyed black a few days before. ‘Okay, I’ll bring you home if you want… it would be a lot faster if I transformed into a werewolf, and then you could ride me…’ Simon trailed off, his face more crimson than Sarah’s was. ‘Yeah, that’ll be fine with me.’ Sarah responded shyly once again. Simon and Sarah left his cabin, and soon Sarah was riding the air once again, the trees around her a blur. She couldn’t help but scream with delight as she held onto Simon’s black soft fur, but after a few minutes, her necklace began glowing and she even barely heard it as it hummed urgently. She stopped smiling, and began to grow fearful, her eyes darting around the woods around them. Sarah’s heart was pounding filled with her frightened worries, because she knew that one of Vladmire's little people were nearby. She needed to transform, she had to before something awful would happen. She closed her eyes and concentrated. She felt her blood running faster, and she knew that after all her three weeks training, she was going to be able to transform again. But as soon as her necklace shone pure white, and her eyes lost all colour and life, an arrow shot out of the trees, hitting Simon in his right thigh and throwing both him and Sarah to the mossy earth. Simon howled with pain as he slid into a thick tree, his howl echoing through the woods. Sarah quickly got up and controlled herself though she felt as though she were going to vomit or pass out into unconsciousness. She coughed violently, wondering what had happened within those few seconds. When she could finally breathe normally, she tripped her way to Simon. ‘Oh god.’ She muttered, seeing the arrow stuck in his right thigh. Blood stained his black fur and the grass around his leg, but this did not frighten Sarah. ‘Simon, hold on, this might hurt a tad.’ She whispered biting on her lip. <No Sarah, please Sarah, don’t do it, the pain is just too much to bear, just go, run now!> Simon cried, his thoughts swarming in her head. As she pulled the arrow from his skin, Simon screamed in pain and even tried to claw Sarah. ‘Calm down Simon, just transform back to normal so your leg will go back to normal!’ Sarah pleaded, her ears picking up branches snapping in the distance. Simon did calm down, after a moment where his golden eyes stared painfully in hers, his fur began to melt away, and his human shape began taking place once again. ‘Sarah, we must transform into our battle mode, it’s the only way to survive this…’ Simon quickly said in her ear, his eyes watching as her necklace already began turning white. After a moment of careful concentration, Sarah’s white glow disappeared from her body, and left her with her battle armour upon her body. Sarah pulled out her bow and an arrow, pointing it towards where the sharp noises were coming from. She noticed from the corner of her eye that Simon was having trouble transforming, his necklace barely giving out a weak white glow. ‘Come on Simon, you can do this!’ she growled at him. His hands grasped his necklace trembling atrociously. She heard his thoughts pleading with himself to transform, and gradually, his entire body glowed. ‘Yes!’ he cried happily, powerful flames growing in his palm, ready to attack. It was Simon’s first time transforming, so he was extremely happy now that he could use his magic to its full extent. He was always able to use the weak little flames or a small shot of water when he was in class, but when you transform, everything becomes more powerful within you. Sarah knew how he felt at the moment because she just knew that her karate skills had sharpened so that she was most likely better than Damien right now. Sarah would have cheered, but she was too serious and was equipped for battle, and prepared for the pain that would come with it. They heard a sudden snap right across from them, and both quickly tensed up and gritted their teeth, trying to hide the worries that lurked within them and that they passed to each other. A figure stumbled out of the woods and before he could even to attack Sarah or Simon with any more arrows, Simon threw a immediate ball of water from his other hand. ‘What the hell?’ Sarah froze and slowly let her arrow fall away from her bow, because she recognised that voice anywhere. The dark snappy tone, the one that sounded as if they could simply hurt you just by speaking a few words. Colby. Colby sputtered out water trying not to choke as he stumbled even closer towards Sarah and Simon. Even though it was only Colby, Sarah still kept her bow in front of her prepared for something horrible, and Simon kept his flames bright and alive. He looked up, snorted, and chortled nastily as he shook his head, letting his greasy light brown hair sway around his head. ‘Are you going to attack me?’ he asked mockingly, moving towards Simon more than Sarah. His eyes moved to Sarah, taking her in up and down hungrily not even realizing that Sarah was in her transformed body. That only angered her more, but she did not say anything even when he puckered his lips at her, his eyes filled with lust, his brows cocked sarcastically still. ‘What are you doing roaming these woods Colby, and why is it that you appear after I was just shot with an arrow?’ Simon snapped viciously. He barred his sharp fangs to try and intimidate Colby, he Colby was simply unimpressed, and blew out Simon’s flames with a breath of ice. Simon stared coldly, not knowing how to react anymore. ‘I was just wandering around until I heard you howl, and I knew that there were not many werewolves in these woods, so I came to investigate. And as you can see, I hold no weapons upon me, and you know dear Simon that Hillary will not give us our weapons until tomorrow evening, so how can you accuse me? I did nothing to wrong you, and yet you try to accuse me, shame on you werewolf.’ Colby smiled and slapped Simon playfully on his cheek, taunting Simon to get angry and attack. ‘I was not accusing you Colby, I was simply wondering what you were doing wandering my woods unaccompanied.’ Simon growled. Sarah just saw the tension heating up between the two, only this was much worse then when Madison and Ryley would argue. ‘I am allowed, these are not your woods.’ ‘I know that, but Vladmire's men are wandering about these woods as well, and I’m sure you would not want them meeting with you in such a night.’ Simon looked around them darkly, yet he had a strange smile on his lips. ‘No one would even hear you scream if they were to catch you, and with such large woods as these, they might not even be able to find your body, so just watch your back.’ ‘Oh don’t worry Simon, I will, and I recommend for you to do the same.’ Colby answered back hotly. He moved away from Simon and instead went to Sarah, smirking at her when he saw the sword in her belt and her bow in her hand. ‘Lovely night for a stroll, isn’t it Sarah? It is especially is lovely, I think, when the moon is full and shines down upon our little town, don’t you agree? And the full moon is supposed to begin tomorrow, isn’t that interesting Simon?’ he traced the side of Sarah’s face with his finger and watched as her whole body tensed. Just the way he spoke those words sent shivers down Sarah’s spine, not to mention the fact that his dirty finger was touching her skin. She felt like taking her sword and slicing it off, but she kept herself under control and tried to keep her eyes steady as she gazed into Colby's. ‘Well, ‘I’m off, I have things to do and things to kill, adieu to you both.’ He turned and walked back the way he came, humming a strange tune that floated to Sarah on the wind. ‘That boy is so strange.’ Simon finally muttered, falling to the ground. He pulled his pant leg up to investigate the arrow’s damage to his leg.
