It seems to me that once you get so completely stressed that you either go into this deliriously happy stage or you feel like you're about to fall apart and kill someone.

This is called insanity.

When one finds death to be highly amusing, exciting, and something pleasurable that would probably beat having sex, this is called pyschopathy.

A mixture of the two could be quite deadly.

This is why alcohol was invented. To remove and numb one's feelings to either 1.) allow someone to do these things, 2.) to knock them out before they can, or 3.) to make them become apathetic to these feelings.
