A chronicle of my life starting from June 21,
2002. |
November 20, 2002 Well, I just got back from the craziest, most fun dance I've been to. Sponsored by my youth group (Goddard United Methodist Youth = GUMY). Better than any school dance I've ever seen, and with really good DJ's that played good stuff. We tore up the dance floor. That is, the tile floor of the basement. Nonetheless, it was awesome. None of that distasteful rap crap about sex and violence (and sometimes both at the same time), and none of the "sex with clothes on while standing up" dances. It was fun. We had some techno stuff going on, and it mixed up with some nice punk and hard rock, and a few slow ones. The result is toes that look and feel like squeaky toys from the calices and blisters, and a neck that's more sore than ever before. Yeah, I headbanged during EVERY rock song, air guitar and vocals going as well as I could. And this isn't any of that wussy Night at the Roxbury head bobbing. This is headbanging with a 5-foot arc in my motion. Ouch now. It was fun at the time. I danced to everything I could find a rhythm for. Meanwhile a friend of mine just kinda watched and hit me when I went by. Well, I know I had more fun. Long story short, these guys need to DJ at our school. They'd blow GHS away. What else happened today? Oh yeah, I'm sick as a dog. And who came up with that? Are all dogs just really sick or something? Anyways, I felt like crap every second leading up to the dance. Headache, one nostril stuffed, the other one runny (and taking turns a lot), cough, sneeze, fatigue, and lack of will to do anything, or even think. That led me at school to just stare wide-eyed at inanimate objects, lacking strength to bend down and get my pencil and book out. Needless to say, I got NOTHING productive done today. But it was fun, and I have all my life to be "productive". I'll treasure my youth while I can. Recommended listening: It's A Fine Day by ATB. I felt like getting some electronica in there, in spirit of the dance. And it's a song they didn't have that I requested. No hard feelings, the DJs were awesome indeed. ~ Dris ~ |
