the Spartoi
the Greeks told of dragon
teeth, scattered like seeds on the wind
produce a crop of warriors—
deadly. impossible to kill.

perhaps that is why
we gather children's teeth
with stories of fairies and rewards--
hording them against a time

when we'll sow them
to grow a crop of dragons.
