Family Baking

Baking with Sofia


Her love to bake is high
Though she is only five.

She likes her gran’s kitchen
ready to help and pitch in.

Like peas in a pod we are
loves my idea and glows like a star.

We measured the flour and mixed
butter, sugar and a few farm eggs.

While cupcakes are her priority
I baked an orange cake in reality.

At the ring of the bell we opened the oven
the flavorful cakes baked by the dozen

let out a tantalizing aroma as the family walks in,
Sofia laid places for all, her face a peachy pink,

to celebrate and cherish her loving dad’s birthday.
As he bent and blew the candles, we sang

Happy Birthday, clapped and relished the nutty cake,
drinking tall glasses of vanilla milkshake.
