COMMUNICATION IS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT!

Little Guy

Little Guy is my adorable but strong willed Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix. He loves me so much that it gets to be a problem for me. I love dogs and have had many in my lifetime of 79 years. But nothing compares to the attention this little fellow gives me. He is always at my feet, which can be dangerous for both of us. He gets stepped on and I may trip! The attention he gives me has been somewhat puzzling because he has not always been my dog.

Little Guy came with my newly married husband. He was Fred's dog and even Fred's beloved wife who passed away several years ago. I could see that he might be associating me to the female he lost, but they were never really good friends. Well, at least I understand she didn't like him.

Little Guy has issues. We think he is about 8 years old and seems to have joint issues. From X-rays taken at the vets, he has previous signs of injury. So, I try to take that in consideration when working with him. However, nothing about this little fellow stops him from playing. He loves to rough house a little, but you must be careful as he has sharp teeth. When he gets excited, he gets the zoomies. He will run around the house two or three time. He is always looking up at me, but what else can he do as he is so close to the floor. He weighs about 7 pounds, pear shape. He is a "kick" to watch.

He has an attitude that I am trying to understand. He talks back. Seriously! If you tell him no, or try to correct a bad habit, he talks back with a screeching bark. He is very clever how he does it. He barks and backs up then moves forward and then backs up again. It is hard not to laugh at him.

So, I have become such a fan of Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisper. I am trying my best to pickup on his dog and human psychology. Periodically, I will check in and let you know if I make progress.
