The Shield of Time

The topic for January was "New Beginnings", I wasn't sure what to do with exactly.

I picked a Science Fiction novel called The Shield of Time by Poul Anderson because it is a story of how changing the timeline of history can result in a new beginning of sorts.

You see, the premise of this book is that there is a secret organization called the Time Patrol which is responsible for making sure that the history unfolds the right way. The hero, a guy named Manse Everard, travels through time on various assignments and at one point finds the entire world in danger of not existing.

This book is for people that enjoy thinking about history a bit more than most people. Some of the historical events which get changed are kind of obscure. and it's a little hard to relate to some of the changes, but it is a generally entertaining read.
