Just things that I think about now and then.

Auspicious, or Rather, Suspicious Beginnings
This isn't a rant, but the title really fits 2025 for me, personally. My parents are getting older, and Mom was hospitalized back at Thanksgiving with fluid build up. Turns out that she needs an aortic valve replaced. Her procedure is scheduled for this coming Tuesday. It will be done laparoscopically, which is crazy to me, but at least she won't have her chest cracked open at 81 years old. On the plus side, Dad has taken her cigarettes away, which is no mean feat.

Now Dad had fallen this week and broke his femur up near the hipline. He had surgery the other day, and is now home. Side note here: He is a terrible patient and has no patience for being down and out. So I can just imagine how much fun that will be for my baby sister, who is the only one nearby. They live in Michigan, and being here in Texas, there isn't a lot I can do, other than to call and check up on them. For the next few weeks, there will be a PT person to help Dad get back on his feet. He is 78, so I imagine this might be harder for him.

So, I am over 2025 already. I can only hope that things get better from here. The fires out in LA don't affect me personally, but I do feel bad for those who have lost their homes. The person holding the highest office here in the US, doesn't affect me personally, but there are a lot of people who are very unhappy, and I feel for them. I try to steer away from politics, but there is only so much head-ducking that a person can do. But I imagine that will be for another day.

So far, I'm not all that impressed with 2025, and if I could get a refund, please; that would be good. I'm grateful I still have my parents, and they are pretty tough birds...they've had to be, raising 4 girls who are only 5 years apart.

My youngest daughter, her husband, and their 3 kids had a week off from school, as the New Orleans area decided that 6-8 inches of snow would be a good thing...and then frozen pipes at the school gave them another day off. Hopefully they will get back to school next week. Here in the panhandle of Texas, we only had one day of snow, but the cold - aka, frigid temps are ugly!! But, these temps are only temporary; or at least, I can hope.

Ok, enough for now. I want to start concentrating on the positive, and Lord willing, the craziness for the year is over. I also need to do another word search puzzle, and will do that as soon as I post this.
