I wasn't in my normal jovial mood this January 1st. I have felt kind of exhausted and worn down these last few days. This week has not gone as desired either. I am hoping for a better week this next week. I have been without my antidepressants for a couple of weeks, and I think it has affected my moods. I have finally gotten them again, but it may take a couple of weeks for them to get back into my system.

Take UP Your Cross

Blog Prompt: Do you show kindness and respect to those who don’t show it to you?

I do try to do so. Sometimes, I don't always succeed, especially when I have to face those kinds of people on a regular basis. This might be an area that I need to work on.

Prayer prompt: Pray for your church leaders who carry a heavy responsibility to be diligent with the Lord’s work and take care of the Lord’s flock.

Dear God,
I pray for the church leaders that they would be diligent with the Lord’s work and take care of the Lord’s flock. I pray that they won't provoke their members to wrath, and that they will lead with wisdom.
In Christ's name,
Amen

On this day in 1870, construction began on Brooklyn Bridge. Let's talk about the different architecture of the bridges around us. Do you notice how they're made? What they're named? Are they famous for something or someone in history?

I know that in Oklahoma, we have quite a few remains of old bridges. There is the newer bridge in Okc that goes over the highway that is supposed to be a large metal structure of a Scissortailed fly catcher, our state bird. I like the decoration of the highway overpasses here in Okc of the buffalo. Nothing extravagant or famous comes to mind right away though. I am sure that if I were to research it, I could find some interesting stories about bridges in Oklahoma though.

Use these words in your entry today: selflessness, heroic, determination, fierce, longshots, peanuts, and timeouts.

Sometimes, I enjoy these kinds of prompts and sometimes I don't, especially when I am not in a creative mood. Just saying. This has just been one of those weeks and I have been in a bit of a bad mood. That is on me though. I guess this could be a good group of words for a baseball game. (scratching my head in thought)

Johnny stepped up to the plate with heroic determination. It had been a very long and fierce game. There were no more timeouts to be called. All the bases were loaded, and the score was tied. The crowd were cheering. Peanuts, popcorn, sodas, and other snacks had all been forgotten in this nail-biting moment. This was a longshot of longshots as he rarely even hit the ball, little alone a home run. Could he even hit this ball so the team could win the game, or would he strike out? The crowd grew so quiet you could hear a pin drop as the pitcher threw the ball. Johnny swung, and somehow the bat made contact with the ball. He began running for 1st base with all his might and with an act of selflessness, put his body on the line and dove to touch the base. The crowd cheered as he was called "safe!", and his team won the game.
