These Are My JOTtings, Part #2

Back to the Grind

The year has settled in it seems
with daily tasks to do.
Our future bright, it fairly gleams,
so good for me and you.

No more do holidays distract.
No more of wishing gifts
could be a wonder, fully packed
with hope the heart to lift.

The job with weekly, working list,
the home with family chores,
for months our lives in same ol' gist
will keep us from our s'mores.

For nearly'a year we'll find some peace
in ways, that don't cost much,
a walk for miles will bring release.
We'll keep with friends in touch.

If you have time to visit me
in my home town a bit,
I know a place, that you must see,
where we with cup could sit.

The Daily Grind's a coffee shop
a quarter-century near.
In February, then full-stop
accomplishment we'll cheer.

If Lilli is QUILLING! visits the "Peach State,"
we'll serve her the house brew.
We'll sit awhile, 'til very late,
and share my family, too.

'Tis one of half a dozen, now,
The Daily Grind's the first.
They need to stand and take a bow
for long-time quenching thirst.
