Good Dog!

Well hello little pupper, I hope you're having fun
All decked out in your ghostie sheet
With a plastic pumpkin basket for loading up
Full of delicious doggy treats.
Your friends and family are near, keeping a watchful eye
On your activities this spooky October evening.
With a wagging tail and joyful yelp
You trot from door to door
Begging for good things to eat and a pat on the head
From amused neighbors up and down the street.
At home, you curl up on your doggy bed
After poking your nose into those aromatic baggies—
"No, doggy! Chocolate is not good for you!"
With the kiddie treats safely out of reach,
Enjoy your loot, but not too much at once.
Sleep guardedly tonight, with one eye open
Protecting your family from wandering spooks.
Who's a good doggy? You are!
