Ode to Korean Food

My favorite cuisine
Is Korean food
I first tried it in 1979
When I went to the Peace Corps

At first, I had a hard time
Adjusting
Particularly for breakfast

But over time
I acquired the taste
And became a connoisseur
Of Korean food

I grew to love
My daily Gimchi

My favorites
Were bulgogi (beef)
Kalbi (grilled beef ribs)
Fried chicken Korean style
Korean-style soups and stews
Korean-style sushi and sashimi

And of course a Korean meal
Usually includes soju (Korean vodka)
Malkoli (rice wine) or beer
To wash it all down.

I married a Korean woman
And we eat Korean-style
Every other meal

We love to go out
And try Korean food
As Koreans continually
Tweak the national cuisine.
