The What If Sigh
In a moment's whispering thoughts
Came the proof I was an astronaut
To the moon and planets far,
I traveled quickly through the stars.

Then in an instant life did change,
And my role was rearranged--
I became a bumble bee,
Collecting pollen from the trees.
.
Next a shadow on the wall
Told me that I was six feet tall!
I tried to reach things up high,
And I almost touched the sky.

Again, the season's shifted so,
And I began a quilt to sew--
For the cold evenings inside--
Where from the chill we could hide.

Finally, an Autumn Witch declared,
I have not been caught nor snared.
So, with my faithful cat, I will fly
Toward the next 'what if' sigh
