Confessions of a Grammar Nazi

Confessions of a Grammar Nazi

joe Lewis was a college professor.
He taught English and creative writing.
He was a self-described grammar nazi.
His students dreaded receiving back essays,
Which were marked up by his infamous red pen.
Often, ending with a question mark, why?
Or with an exclamation point,
“Really, that’s the best you can do”!

It's
NATIONAL PUNCTUATION DAY !

Some of the most common punctuation marks used in English are:

Period: used to end a sentence
Question mark: used to indicate a question
Exclamation point: used to express emotion
Semicolon: used to connect two independent clauses
Apostrophe: used to indicate possession or contraction
Quotation marks: used to indicate direct speech or writing
Colon: used to introduce a long or formal list, or to emphasize an idea
Comma: used to separate items in a list, or to introduce a subordinate clause

Try writing a poem that correctly includes at least 4 of the above.
