A blog devoted just to my scriptwriting. That’s all I’m going to blogging about here. |
Thought About Doing Twenty-Three Today was a sad day for most of us here in the United States and beyond. Whether we know someone involved with this terrorist attack against us, we were all affected by it. Personally, I didn’t know anyone involved in this disaster. But it still affected my writing. How did it affect my writing? It’s not what it sounds like. If anything, it’s just the opposite. At first, I didn’t think I would get too much writing done today because of it being 911. But I opened up my Water Wars scriptwriting project anyway, just in case I wanted to work on it. I did want to work on it after all. It was kind of a release for me. After all, I think it helped me with what happened today in 2001. And once I got started on it, I shouldn’t stop. Of course, I did have some problems with a lack of concentration because of today. But it wasn’t that bad. My lack of concentration didn’t slow me down too much if it slowed me down at all. After all, I got twenty paragraphs written for Part One of my Water Wars scriptwriting project and it could have been a little more than that. It could have been twenty-three instead of twenty. The twenty paragraphs I did get written today included eighteen numeric scenes and two Establishing Shots. If I had written twenty-three it would have been twenty numeric scenes and three Establishing Shots. I did have the time to do those last three paragraphs. So, why didn’t I? I had about forty minutes to write these last two numeric scene paragraphs and the other Establishing Shot. The reason why I didn’t is because of what happened today. That wasn’t the only reason why I didn’t want to write them. But it was one of the reasons why I didn’t do it. When I get to this phase of my project, I bring up three documents. My single-sentence Scene Outline I used to write my paragraph Scene Outline. I also bring up my paragraph Story Outline so that I can reference it to keep my Scene Outlines connected to it. So far, I have done it. The only other problem I have been having with my paragraph Scene Outlines is an ongoing one with my Scene Headings. As long as they are numeric Scene Headings, I only have about fifty-eight character spaces for them. Most of my Scene Headings fall within the sixty spaces. But not all of them. I have had to compromise some with these Scene Headings. But that’s only because my paragraph Outlines are numeric. The scripts won’t have these numbers in them. So, I can adjust these Scene Headings for these Outlines. At least I think I can adjust all of them. I’ve already started testing this theory with what I have written today. It only took a few more seconds to see if these Scene Headings fit within the sixty-character spaces allotted for these Scene Headings. Then I erased the word I will be replacing when I start writing my scripts. So far, it appears the only problem I have had is with the NIGHT part of these Scene Headings. The DAY part hasn’t been affected by it. At least it hasn’t yet. Once I start getting deeper with these Scene Headings, I may have some problems with the DAY part of them too. |
