Week 47 - a picture

Step on a crack, break your mother's back
Echoes of childhood songs.
When I think back on these lyrics,
I now think that a lot of them just wrong.

Ring around the rosies, pocket full of posies...
I thought so harmless a verse.
Now I know that these were lines
Describing the time of plague.

Even Rockabye Baby is no longer fun,
Who even thinks of putting a baby high up in a tree?
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall.
Nursery Rhymes are just sinister; at least they are to me.
