G1 Off With Your Head!

G1 “Off With Your Head!” - create a blog entry (or static item) detailing an event that made you incredibly angry/frustrated. (<1000 words)

Yesterday was my birthday. I got no presents. Just a card. But that’s okay. At a certain point in life, you really don’t need any more stuff. A little trinket would be nice, but okay, no problem, so far.

But then later in the day I came home from running a few errands, to find my husband fixing his own lunch.

What?

This makes me very angry. We only eat two meals a day. Breakfast on our own at separate times, then a meal together. And on this particular day, my birthday, he chooses to eat by himself. Huh….

‘Well, I thought you weren’t coming back,” was the reason given.

In my defense, I never said that. I never gave a time, but never said I wasn’t coming back.

“But it’s my birthday!” I muttered, dumbfounded.

Was I wrong to be angry? I was grateful for that card. I expressed thanks for it. I always find a way to get him a small something for his birthday, our anniversary. I always fix him a meal and a special dessert for his birthday.

He did throw me a bone and ask if I wanted to go to a burger place on our trip to the city on Monday. ‘Yeah, whatever,” I muttered again. I may change my mind and say forget it. Let’s just go home after our dental appointments.

But thanks to my daughter and my three adult grandchildren, all in California, who all called me separately, the day was not a total loss. I hadn’t talked to my grandchildren, Jamison, Justin, and Jade, for over a year. My heart is full tonight after talking to the four of them. Those phone calls were my presents.

So, “Off with your head! You unruly knave! How dare you make your faithful wife unhappy on her natal day!”
