My personal Speakeasy. I restrain nothing here. |
Over 6 months ago, I believed I had a problem, and got tested for clinical depression. While i was there, I read a poster stating that one in 20 people suffered from depression of one form or another.
It talked about Depression like it was a Disease. What CRAP! Depression is not caused by viruses or chemical imalances or even the people who have it. It's caused by the thousands of people, or all races, ages, genders and sexualities, who belong to one group the world could do without. I speak of course about @$$holes. I have much experience with this breed. All through life...currently I know over a dozen at work alone. These people come from a long line of people who perpetrate the "Life is supposed to be tough" Myth. Thes people make life hard, hellish and stressful. They are the ones who give no breaks, turn good people away on technicalities and pull rugs out from under people. You would think I want you to hate them, but I don't. They're victims, like the people they harm, some to the point of depression. They were misguided by parents who were taught the myth that life is SUPPOSED to be painful, who in turn were educated THEMSELVES the same way by THEIR parents. These people are unwittingly brainwashed to think this is the truth. These people, as well, are stressed beyond belief as well. They just believe the cure is to pass this stress along. Eventually it's given to one person who gets it from so many sources it's a wonder they don't cease to function completely! If only we could trace back this cruel education, find it's inventor in history. Then we could go back, b*tch-slap the guy a few dozen times and tell him to wise up. And if that doesn't work...extreme measures. I read once that the First Noble Truth of the Buddha is "Existence is Suffering". Yeah, I agree. Because when we suffer, we misguidedly inflict suffering on others. if people could just take the pain and kill it themselves, in due time, we'd have happiness. Depression isn't a disease, but a good word or gesture is infectious. I don't wanna sound Hallmarkish or Schmaltzy, but let's try starting a plague of our own! |
