National Adoption Day - when I read this I thought of Dave Thomas - the founder of Wendy's. He opened the first Wendy's in Columbus, OH. I am from Ohio, and I remember seeing that restaurant. I also remember one time getting in on a taste-test at the offices in Dublin, OH. Seems to me they were developing some kind of salad that day. So we had to taste some salads, give our opinions. For this we got to eat and were paid some kind of fee. Perhaps it was $25?

Dave Thomas was a big advocate of adoption, and I think the Wendy's chain still touts that in their advertising.
