Two suggestions struck me as worthy of mention today:
Marine Corps Birthday
Area Code Day
My grandson is in the Marines. It was a proud moment to see him graduate from basic training. Then there was a big clafugle last spring when he went missing for quite a few days. No one has told me what actually happened. But he was found in Seattle, safe and sound. Thanks be to God. I wish I knew the entire story, but for whatever reason my daughter is not forthcoming with any info, or she doesn't know.
The Marines are a tight-knit, and also tight-lipped, group. Very proud, very strong. Once a Marine, always a Marine is what I've heard from more than one.
Area Code Day - we in Montana have still just one area code - 406. With the prevalence of cell phones, I'm sure someday that will change. But I pray not. I hate, and I really do, the use of cell phones now. It has changed our society so much, and not always for the better.
Since you've been using a cell phone, how many phone numbers can you remember? I usually don't have to lookup numbers of people I call frequently. I still remember my childhood address and phone number. Memory work is important. Cell phones have taken away that ability. Or at least taken away the need for remembering.
So, Marine Corps birthday - the official birthday of the United States Marine Corps is on 10 November 1775. That was the day when the Second Continental Congress established the Continental Marines Veteran's Day is tomorrow. Thanks to the military, always.
Area Code day - helps our phone calls get directed - proud to say Montana still has just one - 406
