Summer Haze Summer haze Settles down on the world Breaking one record After another Hot, dry dusty air Covering the planet As the heat dome Travels the world Politicians debate What to do The Republicans of course Think that it is all a hoax That it will end soon The weather gods Have other ideas As the world continues To burn up The desert winds Filling the air With that burned out Summer haze That everyone now Associates with the summer As the world burns Millions of people On the verge of starvation Whole cities will have to be abadoned As the water fails The heat continues And the climate gods Are angry Nothing can be done As the fossile fuel companies Have a stranglehold On world political leaders Truly it seems Like the end of times The end of the world As the world burns And people flee Into makeshift Underground cities Week # 2 SUMMER HAZE It's not required that you include the prompt words in your poem, but the poem should be inspired by the phrase 'summer haze'. a minimum of 12 lines, no max There is no form requirement; however, please include the form's name if you use a form |
