Christmas Approaches

What a wonderful time of year,
Smells of chocolate and peppermint
Waft through the air.

Thoughts of cold are banished
As joy takes the lead;
Children's laughter makes a merry sound.

Time for bed, anticipation rises;
Last minute snuggles and kisses
Before closing sleepy eyes.

All is quiet now, almost eerie;
Cocoa brings a tasty comfort,
Before the madness of the morning.
