BCoF - The Number 10

An elementary school staple
Counting to the number 10;
A building block in Math.
I remember well the song
Counting little Indian boys and girls
On my fingers while the
Teacher played the piano.

When I got older, we learned
in science class
Multiples of ten - the metric system
Meters and grams from mili- to kilo-
Just by using a decimal point.

Now I measure time by the decade
Units of 10 years.
I am between 5 and 6, with 6 rapidly approaching.
It doesn't sound so bad; saying 6 rather than 60.
But it is all a matter of perspective.
