Where music moves me. Here are my stories. Album #4 |
Marwen looked at Chanel with tired eyes. She was looking at her phone, probably letting her boss know she would be late. Because of him. Because again, she was helping out. She showed up at his house after he left some garbled voicemail. She let herself in and found him bleeding on the bathroom floor. Apparently, he took offense to what the guy in the mirror was saying to him. The doctor's chest moved into view, his gloved hands probing around his face. Marwen winced and pulled back, his breath hissing. "Easy Doc." "Try to relax, Marwen. We'll get these out in no time." "I know. You always fix it." Marwen could hear Chanel sigh. "You'll end up with some scars, you know. I'm not in dermatology." "They all blend together. I call it rugged." He smiled but since half his face was frozen, it was more like a grimace. Marwen could feel the tugging on the stitches. "Are we gonna have the conversation? You know, the one about drugs and the fact that your brain is getting so fried you're hallucinating. Marwen shifted on the table. "No. I get it. I'm trying." "You've said that numerous times. Even the time after you ended up here twenty-four hours after you were discharged from rehab. "I'm trying." Marwen's voice got steely. The doctor tugged the drape off Marwen's face and began applying bandages. Chanel watched as Marwen winced more and more as the anesthetic wore off. The doc examined Marwen's forearms and put a few butterfly bandages over the minor cuts there. "You know the drill. Keep them clean and dry." Chanel dropped her phone in her bag and waited at the door as Marwen shook the doctor's hand. "Thanks, man." The drive back to his apartment was silent. Chanel didn't say anything anymore. She showed up when he needed her but other than that, their relationship was extinct. It died when she realized her love wasn't enough. And he let her go because loving her caused too much pain. He kissed her cheek when she pulled up at his building. "Thank you." He got out and let himself in without looking back. She watched him and then pulled away. She bit her lip as she drove down the street. She promised herself there would be no more tears. But the tears came anyway. 393 words Lyrics ▼ |
