April 4 salient memories

salient memories

salted breeze from the sea
sun at my back
sand, white beneath my feet
strum of ukuleles
sway of grass skirt
satin roll of fingertips
stories there told
sounds of an old Hawaiian tune
singing in my memory

Yes, in my teens I was in a dance troupe and performed the hula all over the state.I
can still go into a vamp but now I would wear a mumu.
