Coloured works [Week 25 entry]

Coloured works

Dawn's
pink blush
has brightened
to golden beams
which pierce my eyelids,
even as a brass bell
demands bleary attention.
My pounding heartbeat slowly calms,
comforted by the shower's cascade
and the aroma of a fresh bold brew.
Refreshed and dressed, I consider the day
stretched out before me like blank canvas.
What hues and tints will cover it
at day's end, pigments given
by tasks I've completed?
Work's strident call sounds
but, ere I go,
I savour
one last
sip.
