Worlds within [Week 18 entry]

Worlds within


Each first line sets the stage,
asking me, "Just what's behind
this fellow's tale?" Now, where shall I begin?

Wondrous words fill each page
painting pictures in my mind;
their Siren song captures me, pulls me in.

A chapter break, a sip,
then once again I'm in thrall,
held by phrases stronger than any djinn.

At the end of each trip -
my reality too small -
I yearn to return to where I've just been.

Form Note: A kerf poem has 12 lines made up of 4 tercets, is syllabic (having 6-7-10 syllables per stanza), and uses a rhyme scheme of abc abc dec dec. It doesn't appear to be restricted to a particular topic or meter.
