The Lid

Week # 4 Prompt:

Returning an item to a store or a person


I came across the lid the other day. When had this come into the house? On the inside was the name in marker. “Hilda”. I only know of one Hilda. She is over on Third Street. Seems she gave me some food a while ago. Was that food in some pot I returned? So how did I forget to return the lid?

I walked over to Hilda. She greeted me at her front door.

“I see you’re returning my lid.”

“Sorry it took so long.”

“It takes time to know when it’s the right time to take the lid off.”
