"It gets hot and the power drains even when I'm not using it."

"Could be a bad battery, it doesn't necessarily mean your phone is hacked." The man behind the counter gave her that look, the one she was used to getting from auto mechanics and appliance repairmen.

"I'm not crazy," she pleaded. "They’re spying on me - listening to me and watching me through my phone. Please believe me."

"Okay lady, leave it with me. I'll check it out. Make sure it's clean."

He waited until she was across the street before picking up the phone.

"She knows," he said.
