April 22. 2022 Verse in Transition
Verse in Transition

it can make you leak teardrops
it can trigger belly guffaws
touch the gut and the heart

scribbled to capture time
the color of a begonia
the scent of an ant

brutal battles remembered
zen experience expanded
half-forgotten dreams explored

penned to release an itch
the anger of the dismissed
the passion of newfound love

writ to traverse a saga
respond to a challenge
enflame the imagination

spontaneous and raw
practiced and skillful
words played and plotted

read as assignment
ancient history revisited
savored in a private place

the many faces of poetry
the privilege of the pen
