Clothed in Spring


We see you now in patchwork browns.
Too dull!" you say. "We need more green!"
Your sunny smile shines all around
such wondrous sights that few have seen.

to shelter young in field and bough,
such wondrous sights that few have seen;
we creep as close as they'll allow.

Illuminating leaf and blade,
your sunny smile shines all around
then burns so bright, greens start to fade.
We see you now in patchwork browns.

Prompt: Write a poem that describes Spring as if it were a person.
Form Note: A pantoum consists of quatrains with an initial rhyme scheme of ABAB. Follow-on quatrains use the 2nd and 4th lines of the previous quatrain as their 1st and 3rd lines, yielding a BCBC rhyme scheme, and so on. For the final quatrain, its last line is the 1st line of the series, and the 2nd line is the 3rd line of the poem (ZAZA). You may use as many quatrains as you like.
