Whispers of Spring
Poetry Contest and Inspiration
March quote - Spring seed growing in the snow
Snow layers sink as the sun melts
The once fluffy puffs that line the garden wall.
Patches of flattened grass appear on the sun soaked hill
Puddles form like a swimming pool on my patio
In the spring, the sun warms the air
Birds begin to chatter
No songs of summer yet.
But there is hope and memories
I watch the garden wall for any signs of life
Seeds dropped in squirrel's hurry
Wait with baited breath for them to poke
Their tender shoots through the earth
And unfurl to wave in the breeze
Snow piles up around them
Sheltering the tender shoots
As new life bursts forth after a long harsh winter.
Seeing the new growth,
I feel my own reawakening
Dark emotions loosen their grip
And my heart begins to trip and skip
Spring whispers its beginning
And I cannot help smiling.
