I like, and have always liked, to do handcrafts: knitting, crocheting, sewing. I taught myself to do all these. I also like to cook and bake. I consider myself a reasonably skilled cook and baker.

I wear a lot of my knitted and crocheted items. Hats, mittens, scarves, and sweaters. My children used to be the recipients when young. I tried giving some as gifts to grandchildren, but those gifts were met with lukewarm responses, and never seen past the gifting. So I don't do that anymore. You can never recoup the time you spend doing crafts to sell them. So I do them now to pass the time at night sometimes.

Cooking and baking are survival skills since we don't do carry out or restaurants much. We are on a fixed income and I have food allergies, so cooking our own food and having a garden are essential to our lives. Plus it's healthier for us.

This picture is from our garden a few years ago. This year we got over 50# of butternut squash and 40# of huckleberry gold potatoes.
