PROMPT January 3, 2022
TWOFOR TUESDAY

Take your pick of either or both of these blog prompts.

1. True confessions: Tell us why you'll always be a hippy.

2. If money was no object, but you can only renovate one room in your house...What would you do?

First, I choose prompt #2.
Ah, as luck would have it, we are remodeling a room this year in our 1910 home. We've already budgeted for the last room to be renovated on the first floor. So this is a timely question. Since I came home from a trip with a cold, I have been sequestering myself upstairs in the finished attic. I like to think of it as 'my space'. I have my sewing machine here, my books here, my craft items, all the holiday decorations, out of season clothes, my desk, an extra bed, plus it has a second bathroom. I think you get the picture.

So, if money was no object, we would raise the roof and get this space renovated correctly. Hubby and I discuss this periodically. The previous owner started the process, but it was done slapdashedly. It needs new windows. It needs proper insulation. It needs more heat vents. The bathroom needs a heat source. I think about $75,000 could take care of it. But to be safe, perhaps I would budget $100,000.

But since money is no object here, let's raise the roof on this house and make an offer on the one next door that has been sitting empty for three years. I would tear that one down. A nice big double yard sounds really nice. That way I would guarantee that no one with barking dogs ever moves in next to me.

Second,
I grew in the hippy era. Free love, drugs, all that stuff. But when I talked to those two free spirits on the train, I told them I was amazed and horrified at the extent of their drug use. I grew up in the drug culture but never experimented. I guess I was too busy being married and having a baby. And now marijuana is being legalized. What's old is new again. Or coming back full circle. I guess it never went away. Just like old hippies.
