Missing Person

I'd like to file a report, someone's missing from my life.

I can't recall the details, but I know its not my wife.

That face is just a blur to me, the voice a garbled mess.

Their personality is all I have to go on, I confess.

He questioned everything in life but never once himself.

The only friends he needed could be found on his bookshelf.

Caring not what strangers thought, living to his whims

He paints with nouns and adjectives, even synonyms.

I miss that optimism, the carefree grin he wore

Waking up to each new day was never such a chore

Yesterday I called and called, hoping he'd return

I fear he might be gone for good, that is my concern...

Will you assist me, mister? Do you hear my plea?

The person who's gone missing? Well... that would be me.
