Prompt: “For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson"
I would have to agree with Emerson. We are only hurting ourselves with anger. Anger is a God-given defense mechanism, usually triggered by fear. Something threatens us and we grow fearful. That fear is responded to with anger to protect us from the threat. However we are not usually physically threatened any more so we are answering to instinctual drives. The Holy Spirit tells us in Ephesians to "Be angry and sin not".
It is okay to be angry but we must channel that anger and work through it quickly because the only person it typically hurts is ourselves.
"Prompt: "I'll not listen to reason-reason always means what someone has to say." Elizabeth Gaskell What are your thoughts on this quote?"
I have to agree for the most part. I don't listen to a lot of man's reasoning because I consider it nonsense. However I will listen to God's reasoning.
