Jan. 30 Entry: Success Equals Happiness?
Motivational Monday! Former US President Franklin D. Roosevelt, born on this day in 1882, once said "I'm not the smartest fellow in the world, but I can sure pick smart colleagues." How important to your success (in any part of your life) is it to surround yourself with talented, knowledgeable, and/or fun people?
=========================================
First of all, I don't know how to define success. For some people it might be a large income or top boss of a company. I don't relate to success that way. For me, success is giving the best that I can to something and hoping for the best result. If I don't acheive that, I have no regrets because I tried the best I could. I then learn from that experience how to do it better next time.
That's how I think we grow and learn.

I have known people with no desire to achieve success at any level and yet they are the most street smart people who know how to survive through any situation. I have learned grit, determination, and hard work from people like this.

I have known highly intelligent, successful, people. Some of them I don't care much for as they look down their nose at me, as though I am a lesser person than they are. To me, these people are so full of themselves that they don't take the time to learn more about those they consider less equal.

I have known highly intelligent, successful people who are the kindest, caring, giving people you would ever want to meet. These people are enjoyable to be around and I love to learn anything they are willing to teach me. Likewise, I enjoy people who are less intelligent but care about living, and loving life.

In summary: Yes, I like to surround myself with people who are interesting, talented, and are always interesting to be around.

I am a family person and if I had to define success for me it would be that my growing family stays close together and enjoys our times together as much as I do. If I leave this world with a happy extended family, then I have done my job.

In closing this last blog, let me say that I have enjoyed this experience and have learned so much from everyone. These bloggers are definitely high acheivers and very interesting.
