upbeat notes
T, write something upbeat”, urged Jim;
Words of wisdom from an old friend
To poetic ears they do bend.

Ideas begin to glimmer and churn,
A thought; a trifle of words to turn
This little poem into a rhyme
Of upbeat words in up-tempo time
With joy, a song, a breeze or two
To refresh the blue – to start anew,
With words that carry happiness through
Instead of sad ones missing you.
I tried to turn this little rhyme
Into a staccato march through time.
Vainly, this melancholy chime
Of weighted love continues its climb.

Flower blossoms fill my memory
Tulips, daffodils, you-delightedly
Romp through my senses willingly.

A probing kiss, a poem filled night;
"Pretty nice, T…”-you hug me tight.
Though I haven’t seen you in a while,
Moments of memory incur a smile.
Upbeat and melancholy feathers
Float softly 'round our moments together
Like magnetic rain in stormy weather,
Sprinkling paths of fragrant heather.
For you reside in a part of my heart,
A corner untouched but never dark.
Write something upbeat”, urged my friend,
A challenge from beginning to end.
