Dreams Within Dreams and What is Loverly About Me

30 Day Blogging Challenge – Prompt for June 14, 2014

Prompt: "All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream." - Edgar Allan Poe Write a story, a poem, your thoughts, or an essay. It's Saturday so be creative and have fun with this prompt

This reminds me of the movie, The Matrix. I loved the concept of that movie: A man being wretched from his dream - like life to do battle against the system that seeks to keep everyone in the controlled, dream-like state.

I have chosen to take my creativity in a poetic route using Edgar Allan Poe's Quote to start my poem...

All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.
Curled in upon ourselves we stay deluded by our perceptions.
We hold to our views with fingers, raw and bloody
Fighting for our right to be right.
But in our desire to hold and win the battle
We forsake our dreaming self
And plunge into the vortex of pain and emptiness.
Only awareness will bring us back into the light
And heal our petty whims.

Border for my personal use.

Blog City – DAY 103

Tell us three things that you absolutely love about yourself?

Oy, you know this is hard, right. It is so much easier to find wonderful things about others, but we are generally harder on ourselves. Still, I believe I can do this...

I love that I am compassionate to other people and animals. (Most of the time)

I love that I do not give in to the natural tendency to judge others - my awareness of that draws me back, most of the time. This means I do not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, gender or any of those lovely labels that tend to plonk us into stereotypical boxes.

I don't take myself too seriously (anymore - I did as a child and my issues with perfectionism). I've learned to let it go and know I can start fresh.

Not a bad list...
