Exploring the Great outdoors: Ruts in the parking lot
I explored the great outdoors today, I took a walk through a grocery store's parking lot. I went to Smiths' Food and Drug store to pick up a prescription. I parked quit a ways from the door because I needed the exercise. I need the exercise and all the spaces close to the door were filled.

I hadn't been to a Smiths grocery store in over a year. I used to take my prescriptions to Food 4 Less, but the Food 4 Less pharmacy closed. All the patient records and prescriptions were transferred to Smiths. This is probably a good thing for me because the Smiths pharmacy is closer to my house then the Food 4 Less pharmacy.

Anyway, I parked quit a ways from the door and walked into the store. I noticed that the parking lot needs some work done. There were some potholes in the parking lot. The potholes weren't as big as the one in the Food 4 Less parking lot on Pacos and Flamingo, but they weren't small either. I know all grocery store parking lots don't have ruts in them because none of the Albertson parking lots have ruts.

I have lived in Las Vegas for over twenty-five or thirty years. I don't remember ever seeing ruts in grocery store parking lots before 2008 or 2009. Since late 2008 or early 2009, I've parked in three grocery store parking lots that contain ruts. The other grocery store with ruts in the parking lot is the 99 Cent Only Store (which is actually a dollar store). Most of the ruts aren't huge ruts, they wouldn't swallow a car. However, if you drive over the rut very fast you're going to bend and rim or lose a tire.

I remember at time, when the only places you found ruts was in the streets in the poor sections of town. I remember a time, when even in the poor sections of town the grocery stores didn't have ruts in their parking lots. I wonder what ruts in the parking lot of a grocery store says about the condition of modern civilization. I also wonder who's responsible for fixing the ruts in a grocery store, the store or the city. Maybe the only time I should explore the great outdoors is online, at least there I don't have to worry about encountering ruts in the parking lot.
