Hmmm? What Did You Say?
If you had to lose one of your five senses, which would you choose?

(Don't forget the reasons behind your decision!)

Hmmm? What Did You Say?

First off, I would not wish to loose any of my five senses. That is the most obsurd choice to ever have to make.

Sight is out of the question. I am a visual person. You need to have pictures with your verbal instructions or I never get it right. Smell and Taste are linked. You lose one it diminishes the other.

Touch is life threathening. If you cannot distinguish between very hot and very cold or feel the blister or thorn in your heel, you stand the chance of losing your limb if not your life to infection.

That leaves hearing. Now this would still be a big sacrifice for me. I love the sounds in the morning, on the playground, at the movies! Sound would be a crippling I would grieve for the rest of my life, but because my life is gearing towards the written words on a page, I think I could adjust to being deaf. Sometimes, it would be grand to be able to hear nothing but the churning creativity in my head while my son turns his stereo surround sound up to 40 and puts on his Smashing Pumpkins CD and the like.

Take care and may your road lead to only good places.

Compassion and the effort to try and understand some thing that was not understood before is a step toward acceptance not only of others but most importantly of yourself.
