A poem a day keeps the cobwebs off my keyboard.

Spot The Ghost
Everywhere you look
superheroes and queens
Are roaming the streets
It’s Halloween!

A few wear pointy hats,
others with howls invoke,
werewolves and witches
or dress up as ghosts.

But poor doggy Spot
he got left at home.
The kids got the treats,
he was left alone.

He barked when they knocked
hoping to get his share,
but mommy only shushed him
she didn’t seem to care.

He wanted to go
with the kids door to door
“I would blend in” he thought,
“if a costume I wore”.

So he slipped to the closet
and climbed on the shelf,
tore off a towel
and threw it over himself.

He grabbed the bucket
with the evil grin,
emitted a ghostly wail
from deep within.

No neighbor guessed
that haunting growl
came not from a child,
but a dog in a towel.
