A Poem :: Comic Shop Mystery

Beneath a gaslight's lonely gleam,
"The Inky Path," a comic shop unseen.
I pushed inside, a world of paper dreams,
Dust motes danced in slanted light's thin stream.

A bearded man, with eyes like shadowed wells,

To vibrant tales, a papery, wondrous sight.

The man spoke finally, voice a gravelly croak,
"Lost, are you, son?" Secrets in his words did choke.
That dusty shop, with shadows playing host,
Held whispered truths, at what unseen cost?
