Everyone Has A Purpose With God
For my blog

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Who is one person you think God put into your life for a reason (and what is that reason?)

Answer:
Ecclesiastes 3:1
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

I believe there is a reason for every single person in my life, both good and bad. Every acquaintance and encounter, even if just for a fraction of a second has God's good purpose in my life.

Of course, I have had people that stand out to me as extra special gifts from God. One of these people is my best friend’s mother. I say this for more than one reason. She really helped me through some difficult times. In return I was able to be with the family and say goodbye to her when she left this earth. It was strange. It felt like a divine appointment. I was supposed to be there. While her family couldn't find the words, I was able to speak for all of us.

PROMPT July 3rd

Do you have a list of inspirational quotes that you might refer to for guidance? Share one with us!

I don't have a “go-to” list of quotes. Quotes can be fascinating sometimes. I tend to like a lot of Dr. Seuss quotes. There are a few that stand out to me. One of my favorite quotes when I was a young adult was “Talk softly but carry a big stick.” This was a quote by Theadore Roosevelt.

My favorite Dr. Seuss quote is, “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”

My mother had a thing for Sir Walter Scott’s quote, “Oh What A Tangled Web We Weave, When first we practice to deceive” she quoted this quote so many times especially when I got myself into trouble at school. Interestingly enough, this was a quote used in a poem by Sir Walter Scott before it was used by William Shakespeare in Macbeth.

I find it interesting to look up the origin of things, not just quotes. There are some really fascinating stories on how some things came about.

Scripture writing - 2 Corinthians 3:12-18

Scripture:
12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
13 And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Observations:
Verse 12- We have so much hope in Jesus Christ. This hope allows us to speak plain and boldly.
Verse 13- We are able to show God's glory without covering our face like Moses did.
Verse 14- Because of Christ, the veil has been removed. We are no longer blinded to God's glory like the children of Israel we're.
Verse 15- Even now they have a veil over their heart so that they can not see the truth.
Verse 16- When they turn to the Lord, the veil will be removed from their heart.
Verse 17- There is freedom where the Spirit of the Lord.
Verse 18- We are changed by the Spirit of the Lord as we read the Bible. The Bible acts as a mirror and shows us who we really are and shows us the glory of God.

Application:
We have so much hope in Christ that we can boldly and plainly proclaim the gospel. We are spiritually blind until we turn our hearts towards Jesus. When we turn towards Jesus, the blindness goes away and we are able to see the truth clearly. The Holy Spirit helps us grow and change into the image of Christ as we spend time with him. The Bible acts as a mirror so that we can see ourselves for who and what we really are and it reveals God's glory to us like Moses was able to see his glory.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Let us walk close to you. Let us see ourselves and change into your likeness. Let us boldly tell others about Christ.
In Jesus ‘s name,
Amen

Prompt: What do you think about deadlines? Do they encourage us to act or are they unnecessarily disturbing?

Sometimes deadlines are necessary. I look at them like a challenge. At times, they can be annoying. However, for the most part, I think they motivate us to get things done. They help us be more productive and organized.

About a Soldier who has a family

Since it 4th of July this weekend, write about this poem in your entry this weekend.

I know it must be very difficult to be so far away from the ones you love and you know love you. It is no wonder soldiers form such strong bonds amongst themselves with each other while on duty. I wish soldiers didn't have to leave their families behind, everyone does it because they know it's for the greater good. We should be supportive of our soldiers and their families.

Day 3152: July 3, 2021

Prompt: Write about the Dog Days of Summer

I Googled the Dog Days of Summer just to see what I would find. I came across this interesting gem. https://www.almanac.com/content/what-are-dog-days-summer This explains exactly what it is and the origin. It is quite an interesting read.

I was always under the assumption that they were the lazy days of summer because it was too hot to want to do anything. So all the dogs and humans want to do is sleep. 🤷‍♀️ This story came from my mother. She was sometimes a strange one.
