This poem describes the slow decay of a flower which has been abandoned.
Diary of a forgotten flower

I sit on a hard and rough coffee table,
closed up from the world.
Craving the sunlight I desperately need.
I want it, I need it.

Day by day I am getting weaker.
My mind is in a state of turmoil.
Waiting, longing for the day when
the portal to life will be reopened.

I am losing my senses.
Everything is swirling inside me.
I am leaving this world, going down

down

down

down

down

Bright light showers over me.
Hands gently pour cool, hydrating fluid on me.
I am alive.

I have been saved.
My life has been relit.
I am taking in the energy,
storing it, saving it for a rainy day.

I am safe for now,
but who knows what the future may bring.
