a poem about a mother, and her love for her son.
He was so very young
with his whole life ahead
his mother thought to herself
she held him gently
wiped the hair from his eyes
and smiled to the child that she loved

The afternoon passed by
it was quiet and peacefull
the breeze drifted by calmly
The mother and her son
were taking a stroll
but the boy began to get hungary

so the his mother held his hand
and they started to walk faster now
though she loved these walks
they would stay as long
as the sun would allow

the boys father was gone
he had been for some time
as he had been sent to war
his mother had cried
she had struggled to cope
but knew that it was the law

as shw walked hand in hand with her last peice of hope
she stumbled and fell to the ground
for the little boys mother had tripped on something
but the boy was frightened as to what he found

a snake slithered by her
and and she held her breath
for herself, and for her son
and as the snake appeared closer
she feared for her life
and told her boy "please sweetie, run!"

he would not leave her
and that made her proud
he was brave like his father, that child
then out from the trees
that grew tall on the hills
came a man with a horse that was wild

"daddy your back!" yelled the boy
as he fled to his father
the noise alarming the snake
the snake slid away
and the boys mother smiled
and knew that this was fate

so mother and father
and there young son
walked home to their cottage close by
the boys hand in his mothers
his other, was no longer empty
she smiled and thought "what a lovely day".
