A poem about a young person running away from their family.
I'd packed my bags and left a note
I knew that i couldnt turn back
I would now be free
The whole world at my feet
So i stepped quietly along the track

My mother would cry
i was sure of that
but my reasons for leaving were right
i couldnt stay there
never sleeping at all
as my parents would yell through the night

My heart became softer and what i fealt was unexpected
i started to miss everything
i had only walked down
a few steps so far
but this feeling inside had me thinking

why was i here?
was it too much to bear?
should i just try to be strong?
then i thought of the world
and how much there is to see
what i'd wanted all along

So i fought back my feelings
the ones that were deep
the things keeping me back
and i took a deep breath
forced a smile to my lips
and took my next steps down the track.
