a poem mourning the loss of childhood.
Just when I need you most you left
You are my youth
In your wake is where I stand
Overcome by fear of life, of change
So unprepared, I have sunk so low

I need your innocence and smiles
But dismay is all I can find
Where did I bury you?
Your memory fades as days go on

Are you with me when all I see is black?
I can see your clouded face
Little traces of you in me
A person to be remembered, never forgotten

I have failed you in so many ways
Much like the dreams we set
Those days are lost, given away to rain
Washing away any clues left behind

You are still there I hope
Waiting to be found by another child
Yearning for innocence and happiness
Coming to see the light in the wake of life
