saying goodbye
Well, hello, Stranger.
My, don't you look sad and tired.
It's been, what... five, six years?
Mine were full of happiness and tears-
A life anyone could admire.

I catch glimpses of sorrow in you.
There are worry lines on your face.
Your eyes wear a shuttered disguise.
Is your past something to despise?
Judgement is not a comfortable place.

I am sorry for your hatred and grief.
However, I would pull us apart, again.
You once cast a shade over my sunshine.
Those times of joy should have been mine.
You made them seem malign and mundane.

Well, goodbye, Stranger.
I'd rather not say, "It's been fun."
You know that would be a total lie.
Honesty is something I won't deny.
As I walk away, I'll try not to run.
