A warning to a neglectful boyfriend
Don't.
Give me stolen looks
to lean on in my losing hours.
Don't.
Take my placid grip
my lonely light
my empty words
and pour them in your cupped hands
to tumble
forever.

Dont.
Call me stupid.
You know I might believe it.
Don't.
Leave me sinking
beneath bleeding hearts
pushed deeper
by tears raining
tasted by heavy storms.

Don't.
Keep my losing luck
locked inside a greying box.
Don't.
freeze my open hand
in an eager hold
and leave me still
and empty love.

Don't.
Make me feel worse
than I already do, honey.
